Gulf states prepare for possible Iranian retaliation

U.S. Gulf allies are preparing for the possibility of a major American military strike on Iran as early as this week, The Wall Street Journal reports. Their concern is that Iranian retaliation could devastate critical infrastructure across the region. Several Gulf states have warned Tehran that they could respond individually or collectively if Iran targets their infrastructure.

President Trump said Iran wants a deal and that an agreement could happen.

Israeli media report that Jerusalem has warned Beirut, demanding the deployment of the Lebanese army and urging Hezbollah to exercise restraint. Israel reportedly warned that hostilities would resume if Hezbollah joined any confrontation involving Iran.

Beit Shemesh schools prepare for possible remote learning

Following a Ministry of Education directive issued against the backdrop of tensions with Iran, recognized and official educational institutions in Beit Shemesh are preparing for a possible transition to remote learning, according to Beit Shemesh News.

School staff are preparing students and educational systems for that scenario, should a decision be made to switch.

Naval exercise scheduled in the Zikim Beach area

The IDF says the exercise will begin tomorrow, Tuesday morning, and conclude Wednesday afternoon.

Increased movement of security forces and vessels will be noticeable, and gunfire and explosions will be heard in the area. The IDF said there was no concern of a security incident.

Weapons return campaign collects thousands of items

More than 10,000 firearms, ammunition items and pieces of military equipment were reported returned on the campaign’s first day. The IDF gave a first-day tally of 10,000 items.

The military opened approximately 65 stations and collection points at bases across the country on Sunday, allowing weapons and equipment to be handed in with no questions asked.

Among the returned weapons was an Uzi submachine gun that the military said was “phased out of IDF service more than 30 years ago.”

“In accordance with the terms of the operation, the person who returned the weapon was not questioned, and their details were not recorded in the system,” the military said.
