Israeli officials assess possible renewed strikes on Iran

Israeli officials believe U.S. President Trump could order renewed strikes against Iran within days, potentially involving a joint U.S.-Israeli operation targeting Iranian nuclear and energy infrastructure, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.

The broadcaster reported that Israel has held consultations with Gulf states, particularly countries that signed the Abraham Accords, as preparations intensify for a possible resumption of military operations. Israeli and U.S. military officials also held coordination talks over the weekend.

According to the report, Israel has completed preparations for offensive and defensive operations. Dozens of U.S. transport and aerial refueling aircraft have arrived in the region, including at Israeli Air Force airbases.

Israeli officials remain pessimistic about the prospects for a diplomatic breakthrough between Iran and Qatar, although negotiations are continuing in Doha, the broadcaster reported.

Axios reports disagreement over the timing of military action

Prime Minister Netanyahu is pressing President Trump to resume strikes on Iran immediately after Tuesday’s U.S. midterm elections, while Trump wants to give diplomacy more time, according to Axios.

The two held a tense phone call on Saturday, described as “tough” by an Israeli source and “direct” by a U.S. source, Axios reported.
