IDF says Lebanese Army failed to dismantle Hezbollah arms site

From an Israel RealTime advertising partner.

Hezbollah weapons site remained active, IDF says

Under the 2024 understandings that guided Israeli and Lebanese actions until Operation Roaring Lion, the Lebanese Army was responsible for acting against Hezbollah weapons and military infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The IDF says those responsibilities were not adequately fulfilled, including during the Lebanese Army’s 2025 Operation Homeland Shield, allowing Hezbollah to continue operating, entrenching itself and rebuilding its capabilities.

In December 2025, a Hezbollah weapons storage site in the Kfarra area was referred to the Lebanese Army through the U.S.-led monitoring mechanism. The Lebanese Army subsequently said it had addressed the site.

According to the IDF, Hezbollah continued operating there months later and removed weapons and military equipment to preserve its capabilities. The military says accompanying footage shows operatives loading weapons onto a truck, which Israeli troops struck after identifying the activity.

IDF alleges coordination with Hezbollah

The IDF’s Intelligence Directorate says it identified instances in which elements within the Lebanese Army coordinated with Hezbollah over enforcement activities. According to the military, this helped prevent, delay or thwart enforcement operations and gave Hezbollah advance warning to remove and transfer weapons.

IDF calls for Lebanese Army enforcement

The military called on the Lebanese Army to fully implement its responsibilities and act more decisively against Hezbollah’s weapons and military infrastructure.

It said Hezbollah dragged Lebanon and its residents into war in service of Iran during Operation Roaring Lion, launching thousands of rockets, including from south of the Litani River. Under the arrangements described by the IDF, only the Lebanese government and UNIFIL should maintain armed personnel, military assets or weapons in that area.

Over 540 terrorist infrastructure sites dismantled

Separately, the IDF says troops under the 91st Division dismantled more than 540 terrorist infrastructure sites, including weapons storage facilities, over recent weeks in Al-Khiam, Tayr Harfa, Meiss El Jabal and Majdal Zoun, within the Security Zone in southern Lebanon.

Troops also located more than 150 weapons, including grenades, rockets, RPG missiles, short- and long-range anti-tank missiles, artillery pieces, launchers, Kalashnikov rifles, other rifles, pistols, explosive devices and magazines.

The IDF says it continues to monitor Hezbollah’s efforts to rebuild and strengthen its capabilities and will act against violations threatening Israel and its civilians. It said operations to remove threats to Israeli civilians and troops would continue while remaining committed to the ceasefire agreement.
