Iranian official sets conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz

A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran and Washington remained far from a deal, rejecting what the official described as “excessive U.S. demands”.

The official said Iran’s conditions must be met before the Strait of Hormuz could reopen, with nuclear talks to follow. He warned that Iran would respond forcefully to U.S. strikes in the region and beyond.

Mediators are working to narrow the differences between the two sides, Reuters reported.

Iranian state television has issued public instructions on surviving a nuclear strike, including sheltering for 24 hours.

Six arrested over alleged Jenin-area rocket network

The Shin Bet and Israel Police said six Palestinians from the Jenin area in northern Judea and Samaria were arrested on suspicion of attempting to build rockets to launch at Israel. Indictments are expected in the coming days.

Investigators said the terrorist network manufactured a rocket body and explosive devices and conducted at least three launch tests.

“The investigation also revealed that the cell received information via a messaging app concerning materials required to manufacture explosives, from an outside source who was in contact with the main suspect in the affair,” the Shin Bet and police said in a joint statement.

Forces seized weapons including an assault rifle and an RPG, along with “written materials containing information and instructions for manufacturing explosives, rockets and explosive devices intended for use against the State of Israel and security forces,” the statement said.

In recent years, Palestinian terrorist groups have made several attempts to develop and launch crude rockets from Judea and Samaria at Israeli communities and at Israel, with little to no success.
