Herzog responds to Trump’s military aid announcement

President Donald Trump told Fox & Friends on November 3 that he and Netanyahu had agreed to end roughly $4 billion in annual U.S. military aid to Israel by the end of 2026. Trump said Israel would still be able to buy U.S. weapons.

The Times of Israel reported that Herzog told Yashar! representatives during consultations at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem that he had been unaware of the plan.

Referring to Trump’s announcement, Herzog said:

The suspension of U.S. aid came as a complete shock to me

He pointed to the existing U.S.-Israel agreement, which provides for $3.8 billion in annual military assistance through the 2028 U.S. fiscal year.

IDF finds Hezbollah weapons and an underground shaft in southern Lebanon

The IDF said troops are operating in the Beaufort Ridge and Litani River areas of the Security Zone to remove threats to Israeli civilians. The troops had spent about one year and eight months operating in the Gaza Strip and completed a period of extensive training before the current operations.

The military said troops found more than 340 Hezbollah weapons, including RPG rockets, anti-tank missiles, mortar shells, small arms, explosive devices, grenades and ammunition.

They also found an underground shaft about seven meters deep inside a civilian home. It contained medical equipment and supplies for daily living. Footage shows the weapons found in the Security Zone.

Israel, Greece and Cyprus discuss closer defense cooperation

The three defense ministries met in Athens on Thursday, November 5, to discuss shared security challenges in the eastern Mediterranean and ways to deepen cooperation. The heads of defense policy from all three ministries attended alongside other senior officials.

The parties reaffirmed that defense cooperation is central to their partnership, following the joint declaration adopted at the leaders’ summit in Jerusalem on December 22, 2025.

They recalled the leaders’ invitation for other like-minded partners to join the trilateral framework and reaffirmed their commitment to peace, stability, security and prosperity in the eastern Mediterranean and the wider region.
